Nigella Lawson absent from celebrity Bake Off special

Date:

Nigella Lawson will not appear in the upcoming celebrity edition of The Great British Bake Off, despite having been announced earlier this year as a future judge. The programme, broadcast by Channel 4, is returning with its annual charity special in support of cancer research initiatives.

The celebrity spin-off, which raises funds for Stand Up To Cancer, features a range of public figures, including reality television personalities, actors and musicians. Presenters Alison Hammond and Noel Fielding will return, alongside long-standing judge Paul Hollywood.

Instead of Lawson, pastry chef Cherish Finden will join the judging panel for the special episodes. The change is due to the timing of filming, which took place before Lawson was officially confirmed as a judge for the main series.

++ State pension income to remain tax-free for most pensioners

Lawson is still expected to appear in the standard edition of the programme later in the year, when the regular series featuring amateur bakers returns. Her absence from the celebrity version reflects scheduling circumstances rather than a change in her long-term role on the show.
