Speaking on a political podcast, Mr Obama said that aliens exist but denied any knowledge of secret facilities such as Area 51 or evidence being withheld from the public. He added that there was no indication of an underground conspiracy hidden from the president. The clip was widely shared online and attracted millions of views.
When asked about the comments, Mr Trump claimed Mr Obama had revealed information he was “not supposed” to discuss. However, Mr Trump also stated that he held no personal view on whether extraterrestrial life exists. Mr Obama later clarified on social media that, while the size of the universe makes life elsewhere statistically likely, he saw no evidence of contact during his presidency.
