Storm Therese has prompted an island-wide emergency in Tenerife, with authorities introducing strict safety measures amid severe weather conditions. The emergency plan was activated on Wednesday afternoon, with officials warning both residents and visitors to avoid unnecessary travel and follow official guidance.

Local authorities implemented a range of restrictions, including road closures and the suspension of outdoor activities. Access to hiking trails, forest routes and recreational areas has been prohibited, while Teide National Park has been closed due to snowfall at higher altitudes. All outdoor events across the island have also been cancelled.

Transport has been significantly affected, with numerous flights cancelled or diverted as strong winds and hazardous conditions disrupt operations. Airport operator AENA confirmed multiple cancellations and warned that further disruption remains possible as the storm continues.
