Date:

James Blake has asked for his name to be removed from the producer credits on Kanye West’s latest album, Bully. The 12th studio album, which premiered on YouTube on Friday, features production from a variety of artists. On the closing track, This One Here, Blake is credited alongside West, Don Toliver and Quentin Miller.

According to NME, Blake believes the final track does not represent the “spirit” of his work and has requested that his contribution be uncredited. Responding to a fan on the video platform Vault, he explained that while elements of his production remain, much of the track had been altered with additional vocal takes, leaving the essence of his original version largely absent.

Blake clarified that his request is not personal, writing that he does not wish to take credit for work that does not reflect his original creation. He stated: “It’s not personal! I just hit a point where I don’t want to be credited on music where I can’t affect the end result.” Blake and West have collaborated since 2014 and worked on a joint project called WAR in 2022, although no music from that period was officially released.

Separately, West released the video for his single Father, featuring a verse from Travis Scott. Directed by West’s wife, Bianca Censori, the clip is set in a church populated by aliens and knights, with a mysterious appearance by Michael Jackson in the background.
