Ben Platt is set to make his first full-run appearance on the London stage in the UK premiere of the musical Midnight at The Never Get. Set in New York City in 1965, the musical follows Trevor Copland and Arthur Brightman, whose illegal romance unfolds through secret performances at their underground nightclub act, Midnight. As a wider social movement begins to gather momentum, the pair are forced to navigate the tension between their private relationship and the growing pressures of change around them.
The production is written by Grammy Award-winning composer Mark Sonnenblick and will be directed by David Cromer. Sonnenblick, who has previously collaborated with Platt, has described the actor as a “once-in-a-generation performer” and highlighted the significance of bringing the work to the UK stage in an intimate theatre setting.
