Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly have reflected on being asked to keep the noise down while staying at Dumfries House during filming for an ITV documentary with the then Prince of Wales. The presenters followed King Charles for a year as part of the 2016 programme When Ant and Dec Met The Prince: 40 Years of The Prince’s Trust and were invited to stay overnight ahead of their final interview in Ayrshire.

Speaking on The Graham Norton Show, the pair described getting on well with Charles but admitted the evening became louder than intended. Donnelly said they had wine in their room and were later asked to be quieter. McPartlin also recalled an awkward encounter in a dressing gown, when he unexpectedly ran into their host in a corridor and ended up discussing rose pruning.
Elsewhere, the duo recently removed a social media post promoting their new podcast, Hanging Out with Ant & Dec, after it attracted criticism. The image, which showed their feet apparently suspended above the ground, was described by some users as insensitive and potentially triggering for people at risk of self-harm.

Mental health advocate and former X Factor contestant Katie Waissel publicly criticised the imagery, calling it deeply disappointing. The presenters took down the post shortly after the backlash emerged. The Graham Norton Show aired on BBC One and iPlayer on Friday evening.
