He said his initial response was one of intense frustration, explaining that producers intervened shortly after the decision. Butler described feeling angry for a brief period before regaining perspective and reminding himself that the outcome was part of a highly pressurised game. He added that his focus soon shifted to returning home to see his partner and family.

Butler also reflected on his close friendship with Stephen Libby during the show, noting that he had trusted him from the outset. He praised Libby’s ability to convincingly present himself as a Faithful, which reinforced that trust throughout the series. According to Butler, the psychological nature of the game made it difficult to separate genuine relationships from strategy.

Despite missing out on the prize, Butler later proposed to his girlfriend while on holiday in Santorini. Meanwhile, Libby and Duffy made history as the first pair of Traitors to win together, splitting a prize pot of £95,750. Both described their victory as a significant personal achievement, with Libby highlighting his pride at winning as a contestant from the Isle of Lewis.
