Nikki Glaser to roast celebrities at the golden globes

Date:

Nikki Glaser will not shy away from poking fun at celebrities at the Golden Globes. The 41-year-old comedian returns to host the ceremony for the second consecutive year on Sunday (11.01.26) and insists that all stars in attendance are “fair game” for her humour.

Speaking to People, Nikki said: “Everyone is fair game. I really feel that way. I was even thinking, like, ‘Oh, I’ll leave plus ones alone, they don’t deserve it. They’re not there being honoured’, but I feel like that’s fair.” She added: “There are some people who are protected figures, and other people might get upset on their behalf, but that’s really none of my business. And if the person I’m joking about laughs, I think that’s reason enough to do it.”

Glaser’s debut at the Golden Globes last year was well-received, and she explained that her jokes will not be overly harsh. “I’m not going to be so mean that anyone is going to hate me for the rest of their careers, or that I have to avoid them for the rest of mine,” she said. “I’m writing from a place of love, and I wouldn’t joke about someone I didn’t like. If I do write a joke about you, it’s because I admire you and think you’re probably cool with a good sense of humour.”

Earlier this week, Nikki revealed she had been advised against joking about “America’s sweetheart” Julia Roberts in her opening monologue in Los Angeles. Speaking on CBS Mornings, she said: “I’m trying out my monologue around LA, at the clubs here, and even any joke about Julia Roberts, they are not for. You cannot make fun of America’s Sweetheart. So whatever I end up saying about her, that is the most fine-tuned joke I’ve worked on so hard, because it is very delicate.”
