“Mickey touched audiences across the country through her time on Big Brother. Her authenticity, resilience and warmth left a lasting mark on fans and fellow housemates alike,” the family said. “She will be remembered for the joy she brought to so many lives and for the genuine bonds she formed both on and off screen.”

Earlier this week, Lee’s family had revealed that her health had taken a serious turn, launching a GoFundMe appeal to help cover escalating medical costs. According to the fundraising page, she had suffered multiple cardiac arrests following complications from influenza and was receiving intensive care.

At the time, the family explained that Lee was in a critical but stable condition, surrounded by loved ones and medical staff, while facing what they described as a long and difficult recovery. Donations were sought to assist with intensive care treatment, specialist support, rehabilitation and medical expenses not fully covered by insurance. By 26 December, more than $32,000 had been raised towards a target of $40,000.

Tributes have since poured in from across the Big Brother community. Former housemates and winners shared messages of condolence and remembrance on social media, reflecting on Lee’s kindness and positive spirit.

Rachel Reilly, who appeared on seasons 12 and 13 of the US series, wrote that she was grateful to have known Lee, describing her as someone who “shared so much light” despite their brief time together. Bayleigh Pelham, winner of Big Brother Canada season 12, also paid tribute, saying Lee’s warmth and generosity had left a strong impression.

Lee’s death has prompted an outpouring of grief from fans and former contestants alike, many remembering her for the energy and sincerity she brought to the programme and to those around her.
